The Last Dark Show
Alternative Rock / Experimental Project
The Last Dark Show is an American indie, alternative, and rock project hailing from Chicago, Illinois, led by singer-songwriter Troy Petty. Originally created as the official name for Petty's 2010 album release, True Love Maze, the project represents an experimental chapter in his music career, blending atmospheric rock with introspective indie soundscapes.
Supported by a talented lineup, The Last Dark Show featured drummer Jay Will, guitarist Kent VDK, and bassist Scott Schaafsma, creating a dynamic synergy both in the studio and on stage. The band independently released one album and performed live in the Chicago area, quickly gaining local acclaim for their raw and emotionally charged performances.
Their final public appearance was at the Red Gorilla Showcase at The Dizzy Rooster on March 15, 2012, in Austin, Texas, during the renowned SXSW festival. Although The Last Dark Show no longer performs together, Troy Petty continues to play many of the songs from the project in his solo performances and has plans to re-release selected tracks on streaming platforms, ensuring that The Last Dark Show's legacy endures for a new generation of listeners.
